Newark Police Investigate Separate Newark Shootings

There were no injuries reported in two shootings that occurred in separate neighborhoods in the city.

Police responded to the 100 block of Hillside Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired at around before 12:15 a.m.

Officers arriving at the scene located shell casings but no injured victims according to reports.

Police detained a person of interest, but it was not confirmed if the suspect fired the weapon at this time.

In the remaining shooting incident, police were called to the 90's block of Mead Street after reports of shots fired had officers on the scene before 1 a.m. canvassing for evidence.

At least one shell casing was recovered, but it is not clear if police located property damaged at that location.

Both shootings remain under investigation by the Newark Police Department.
