Newark Police responded to reports of gunfire in the South Ward around midnight, with officers dispatched to the vicinity of 242 Fabyan Place.
Upon arrival, they discovered several shell casings but found no victims after canvassing the neighborhood.
Further investigation revealed additional shell casings on the I-78 bridge, indicating the extent of the shooting incident.
Newark's Shooting Response Team was called to assist with the investigation, helping to gather evidence and search for the perpetrator.
Despite the nature of the incident, no injuries have been reported.
The shooter remains at large, and authorities are continuing their efforts to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.
The Newark Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
