Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that took place late Thursday night in the city’s South Ward.
Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Ludlow Street after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire just before 10:50 p.m.
Upon arrival, police discovered shell casings and noted property damage at the scene, including a house that bullets had struck.
Fortunately, no occupants inside were injured. Authorities are now working to determine if a gunshot victim who sought treatment at Beth Israel Hospital was connected to the Ludlow Street incident.
The Newark Shooting Response Team was on-site to support the investigation, which remains active and ongoing as detectives continue to search for potential leads and evidence.
