A vehicle that refused to stop for police early this morning ended with police apprehending two suspects after a brief foot pursuit in the city's South Ward.
Police came across the minivan during routine patrol of the area around Grove Street and Springfield Ave.
According to reports, police attempted to pull over the vehicle that was occupied by two people shortly before 4 a.m. when the vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed east on Springfield Ave.
Police followed the vehicle to the area of Avon Ave. and Hunterdon Street where the suspects bailed from the vehicle.
With Newark police pursuing by foot and NP1 (Helicopter) searching from the skies, a perimeter was immediately setup in the mostly residential neighborhood.
Police captured the two suspects in the 200 block of Peshine Ave. with no injuries reported. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
