Newark Police Call Taker Arrested for Explicit Contact with Teen Boy

Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara signed an order to indefinitely suspend, without pay,  a Public Safety Telecommunication worker after he was charged with explicit contact with a minor today.   

According to information obtained by RLS Media, Mr. Shakur Proctor, 25, of Newark, was arrested and charged with code 2C:14-2C (1) Sexual Assault and 2C:24-4A(1) Child Endangerment.   

Preliminary information indicated that after a months-long investigation into unlawful contact with an unidentified teenage high school boy, authorities were able to charge Proctor. 

After about 22 months as a call taker, Proctor's salary was reported by public information sources at $46,522.

The charges against Proctor are allegations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Newark authorities have not released an official statement on the arrest at this time.
