Newark Police arrested Jacob Vandijk, 28, of Rocky Point NY, for possession of drugs, paraphernalia and child endangerment on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
Police said at approximately 1 p.m., officers canvassing the area of Lincoln and Mercer streets, commonly known as the Oscar Miles Village housing complex, observed Vandijk in a parked vehicle with what appeared to be a hypodermic needle.
Officers found Vandijk in possession of glassine envelopes of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles.
A 3-year old child, seated in a child seat, was also in the vehicle with Vandijk.
Police arrested Vandijk without incident. The child was transported to University Hospital for screening.
Vandijk is charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
