Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mark Dunn, 45, of Newark, for an armed robbery that occurred today.
According to authorities, at approximately 1 p.m., an officer from the 5th Precinct interrupted a knifepoint robbery after stopping a SUV near 1 Elizabeth Avenue after seeing it commit a motor vehicle violation.
Authorities said officers approached the car before arresting Dunn and seizing his knife without incident.
The victim, a 64-year-old Hillside man, was, treated for a small cut to his hand.
Dunn is charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Hindering Apprehension.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
