Newark Police successfully apprehended and charged a suspect for possession of a weapon in an incident in the city's West Ward.
The situation happened around 1 a.m. in the 100 block of South 11th Street, where police officers engaged in a foot pursuit with a male suspect believed to be armed with a gun.
The officers' quick response led to the capture of the suspect.
Following the arrest, reports say a search of the suspect's vehicle revealed the presence of a weapon. Remarkably, the incident was resolved without any injuries.
The incident is under investigation.
