Newark city officials announced with deepest regret the passing of Newark Police Aide Richard T. McKnight, 43, who succumbed to Coronavirus complications on August 11th, according to his family.
“We offer the family of Police Aide McKnight our deepest condolences,” Mayor Baraka said.
“This untimely and devastating loss represents the ninth member of the Department of Public Safety to succumb to the COVID-19 virus.
We continue to urge everyone to remain vigilant regarding their health and safety and that of their loved ones.”
“Police Aide McKnight served our country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He also served our City as member of the Police Division for nearly 20 years,” Director O’Hara said.
“His quiet and friendly demeanor will be sorely missed. We extend our most earnest prayers and condolences to his family.”
He was married to Yacksira Nazario and together they parented two children.
