Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that injured a male in the city's South Ward Tuesday night.
Gunfire rang out in the area of Parkhurst Street and Sherman Avenue around 11:49 p.m., prompting a police investigation at the scene.
Upon arrival, police located multiple shell casings, but no victims were found after cops canvased the neighborhood.
While police investigated the scene, officials at University Hospital notified officials of a gunshot victim who entered the emergency department.
The investigation into who shot the victim is under an active and ongoing investigation.
No arrests have been reported.
