Newark Police and Firefighters participated, The Honorable Mayor Ras J. Baraka, and city officials in The City's Book Bag Giveaway and Fun Day on Friday, September 1st at the John F. Kennedy Recreation and Aquatic Center in the Central Ward.
The free event included food, games, crafts and the distribution of over 4,000 book bags to Newark students.
The city and the Police Departement has made successful rounds around the city to greet students in every ward for their first day back to school.
Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose is dedicated to assuring the safety of all students, faculty, and staff for the 2017-2018 school year.
