A Newark Police officer and a civilian suffered non-life-threatening injuries after their vehicle collided in Newark's South Ward Saturday night.
The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. at the intersection of Watson Avenue and Bergen Street.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and found the marked police car damaged after a vehicle operated by a woman slammed into the police cruiser.
Both individuals were transported to University Hospital for treatment and expected to recover.
According to the preliminary investigation, the female was detained for suspicion of DWI.
No other injuries were reported.
