Newark, North Jersey Region Rings in 2025 with Mild Temps, Spotty Showers on the Horizon

As Newark steps into the first day of 2025, the city wakes to mild temperatures at 47 degrees, bringing a warm and calm start to the New Year following a night of celebration and the iconic ball drop in New York City.AdThe morning hours are expected to remain peaceful, but rain is on the horizon as the day progresses.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog will linger early but clear by 7 a.m., allowing temperatures to climb to around 48 degrees by late morning.

However, the warmth will not last long. Colder air will move in, gradually lowering temperatures to the low 40s through the afternoon.

Later tonight, skies will turn partly cloudy, with temperatures dropping to 34 degrees.

With wind chill values making it feel as low as 25, residents are advised to dress warmly if venturing out.

While the start of the year offers a brief reprieve from the freezing temperatures of late December, a wind advisory is in place, bringing brisk conditions that will make their way into the area by Thursday.AdAs Newark settles into the New Year, residents can enjoy the mild weather for now but should prepare for the return of winter’s chill in the days ahead.
