In a recent Essex County court development, two alleged murder suspects, Nrik Dunlap and Quasim A Daniels, from Newark, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder.
The incident occurred on Friday, October 1, 2021, around 5:11 p.m., when Newark patrol officers responded to a report of shots fired at Georgia King Village in Newark.
Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered Mr. Khalil Mosby, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.l
He was quickly transported to University Hospital, but tragically, he was pronounced dead at 5:41 p.m.
Both Dunlap and Daniels were apprehended by authorities and charged for their involvement in the murder. The individual who pulled the trigger was never released to the public.
Initially, both men faced charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, but as the legal proceedings unfolded, they decided to plead guilty to the lesser charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
The Honorable Superior Court Judge Ronald D. Wigler presided over the case and the sentencing for the two individuals is set for September 18, 2023.
Judge Wigler will weigh the evidence and consider the plea agreements to determine the appropriate punishment for the defendants.
The court's decision will be a significant step toward bringing closure to those affected by this senseless act of violence.
