Newark Men Arrested for Illegal Dumping

Newark

Police announced the arrest of Christopher Hanford, 35, and Jimmy J. Hampton, 50, both of Newark, for an incident of illegal dumping last night.

According to officials, at approximately 11:20 p.m., members of the Illegal Dumping Task Force observed two men unloading various debris, including sheet rock, doors, windows, large black garbage bags, concrete, flooring, roofing, tiles and miscellaneous household items from a 1994 white GMC truck on the 400-block of Elizabeth Avenue.

Authorities say both men were immediately arrested and charged with illegal dumping and illegal transport of solid waste. The vehicle used to transport the dumped materials was towed and is subject to seizure by forfeiture.

Police say the driver, Christopher Hanford, was previously arrested in October 2017 for an incident of illegal dumping in the 100-block of Riverside Avenue.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
