Authorities in Newark are seeking the public’s help in locating Jermel Medley, 31, of Newark, who they say is wanted for possessing a weapon that's connected with a shooting that occurred on Monday, April 10th.
Police said, at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers responded to Cutler Street and 6th Avenue to a call of a shooting in progress.
Upon arrival to the scene police located a male victim suffering a gunshot wound inside a vehicle.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment then released.
According to police, detectives investigating the shooting obtained a search warrant for the vehicle, a gray 2001 BMW 325, and located a loaded 9MM handgun inside.
The gun was reported stolen out of Texarkana, Texas police said.
Detectives have developed evidence that Jermel Medley is a suspect related to this weapon possession and police issued a warrant for his arrest.
