Authorities arrested Kelvin J. Dabney, 51, of Newark, for three gunpoint robberies that began on Friday, September 1st.
According to authorities, at approximately 3 p.m., police responded to the 400-block of Bergen Street on a robbery call. Four men working in the area were robbed of their cash and personal items by two black men.
The Boost Mobile store located at 456 Springfield Avenue was robbed twice, once on Thursday, September 7th, and again on September 11th. In both instances the stores were robbed at gunpoint of cash and merchandise.
The suspect fled in a silver-colored Honda CRV driven by a second suspect.
Detectives investigating these robberies were able to identify Kelvin J. Dabney as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Police arrested Dabney yesterday without incident.
Police charged Dabney with five counts of robbery, two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and contempt of court on an outstanding warrant.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The investigation is continuing as a second suspect remains at large.
