Today a 33-year-old Newark man pleaded not guilty to charges he and two other men plotted to kill a 26-year-old Orange man last year.
This morning, Zaki Jones pleaded not guilty plea before Judge Ronald Wigler in Superior Court in Newark almost a month after his co-defendants Rasuan Foster, 29, of East Orange, and Jarret Mceachin, 29, of Orange, were indicted for the death of Naji Everett.
On December 15, Everett was shot outside a Joyce Street home in West Orange. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to police.
After further investigation, the three men were taken into custody
almost three months after the fatal shooting.
On July 26, Foster and Mceachin entered not guilty pleas.
All three men were held on $750,000 bail each.
A motive for the killing has not been released by authorities.
