Newark Man Found Shot in His Neck on South 11th Street Dies

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is actively investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in Newark on Saturday evening.SupportAround 7:40 p.m., police were dispatched to the 400 block of South 11th Street following reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, officers and detectives found a man in his late 40s suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

First responders administered CPR before rushing the victim to University Hospital for advanced treatment.

Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.

Newark's Shooting Response Team was on the scene to assist in the investigation, and a weapon was reportedly recovered at the location.

No arrests have been made as of yet, and the investigation remains ongoing.Support
