Authorities are probing the death of 22-year-old Mr. Cyrano Green, who was fatally shot in Newark on the evening of Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, along with Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage, disclosed that Newark Police were alerted to the incident following reports of gunfire on the 400 block of 14th Avenue shortly before 7:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found Green with a gunshot wound.
He was quickly transported to University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:26 p.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Task Force, has taken charge of the investigation into Green's death.
As the search for answers continues, authorities are urging anyone with information related to this tragic event to come forward and contact Task Force detectives at 877-847-7432 in hopes of shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the shooting and bringing those responsible to justice.
