A man who attempted to torch a Newark seafood restaurant was taken into custody by police.
According to authorities, Jashon King, 39, of Newark, was arrested for an aggravated arson that occurred on Tuesday, April 11th.
Police said, at approximately 9 p.m., officers responded to Tasty’s Fish & Seafood Grill, located at 846 North 6th Street, to a call of a fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a container with flammable liquid had been ignited and tossed onto the stove where it then burst into flames.
Police arrested King at the scene and charged him with three counts of Aggravated Arson and Criminal Mischief.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit and the Newark Police Division are coordinating the ongoing investigation of this incident.
