Mr. Scott Hatchett, a 63-year-old Newark resident, found himself in handcuffs after an attempted burglary at Brookdale Gardens apartments in Bloomfield.
The incident happened at 935 Broad Street when a vigilant resident heard a loud noise and spotted Hatchett attempting to force entry by pushing in her air conditioner.
Realizing that the apartment was occupied, the suspect quickly shifted his attention to another nearby unit.
Prompt response from Bloomfield officers led to Hatchett's arrest at the scene, and he was subsequently transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters for further processing.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and swift police action in maintaining safety.
