Newark Man Accused of Stealing Nearly $130K Worth of Equipment from Jersey City Lots

A man accused of stealing nearly $130,000 worth of heavy equipment from three fenced-in lots in Jersey City has been charged, according to officials.

Rafael Duran, 38, was charged with three counts of burglary and three counts of theft.

According to police, the first incident occurred on Feb. 21, when Duran stole a trailer generator valued at $65,000, from the 600 block of Monmouth Street.

On March 6, he stole a second trailer generator (valued at $46,000) from a lot on the 700 block of Tonnelle Avenue.

The third incident occurred on the 1000 block of Secaucus Road on March 13 where the trailer compressor was valued at $17,000.

Duran's bail was set at $50,000 with a 10 percent cash option.
