Late Saturday night, Newark's West Ward became the focus of an intense police investigation following reports of a shooting.
The incident, which occurred just before midnight a few blocks from West Side Park, prompted a response from Newark officers.
Police units were dispatched to the area of 601 South 18th Street after receiving reports of shots fired.
Upon arrival, officers found clear evidence of a shooting. However, no victims were located after a thorough canvassing of the scene.
The Newark Major Crimes Unit was called to assist with the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
