By: Jeff Sommes

Newark Police are currently investigating a carjacking that occurred in the Ironbound section of the city on Sunday evening.FitnessThe incident unfolded shortly before 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Jabez Street.

Authorities were called to the scene following reports of an ongoing carjacking. Upon arrival, officers learned that an armed suspect had commandeered a gray Infiniti G35 from the victim and fled the area.

The vehicle, which bears the New Jersey license plate "J32-UCF," is now the subject of a regional alert as law enforcement agencies across the area monitor for the suspect and the stolen car.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported during the incident.

However, the suspect remains at large, and the Newark Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding the carjacking or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward.

This incident adds to the growing concerns over vehicle-related crimes in the region, and authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
