East Orange Police searched the vicinity of 611 Central Avenue for a crime scene after a male shooting victim entered a Newark Hospital suffering gunshot wounds.
According to preliminary reports, officials at University Hospital contacted police when the victim entered the emergency department suffering bullet wounds.
When police arrived, the victim reported that while in the 600 block of Central Avenue, gunfire rang out and struck him at that location.
The victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital according to reports.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined at this time.
