In honor of the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, partnered with Jersey Cares to provide First Night Kits for the Goodwill Rescue Mission in Newark.
Official say Newark Beth Israel Hospital employees assembled kits to benefit the city’s homeless residents.
“We are proud to partner with Jersey Cares to celebrate the life and work of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey we understand that providing excellent healthcare is not always enough, we must reach beyond our front doors and into the community to address the social determinants of health, such as housing, employment and education, said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.”
RWJ Barnabas Health’s MLK Week of Service program is supported by the RWJBarnabas Health Social Impact and Community Investment Practice and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
The Week of Service program includes volunteer opportunities for employees as well as commemorative educational events at facilities throughout the state according to officials.
