Police are investigating an early morning robbery, where two armed men entered a popular neighborhood Newark deli, taking over a thousand dollars.
Police were called to Edward Grocery Store located at 347 North 7th Street, shortly before 6 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery in progress.
According to the owner, two masked men armed with handguns, rushed into the store demanding cash.
The men then ordered the store clerks to the floor, where they searched the clerks' pockets for cash and other belongings.
The two men the fled with approximately $2,000 in cash according to the owner.
There were no physical injuries but the clerks were emotionally distraught.
According to the store owner, a man tried to rob the store last month but left empty handed.
Police believe that the men are wanted for several carjackings that occurred around the city this morning.
