A set of gas station armed robberies that occurred overnight in Newark has neighboring police departments on alert.
Police were called to the Exxon Gas Station located in the 1400 block of McCarter Highway to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Units arriving at the scene were told that a black male suspect arrived and produced a weapon and demanded proceeds before running from the scene.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned male who was last observed wearing a light green jacket according to reports.
Police believe that the suspect held up at least one other gas station during the overnight hours.
Harrison, Kearny, Belleville, and East Newark were notified and remain on alert.
There were no physical injuries reported.
