Fire officials in Newark are investigating a fire that ignited a house in the city's South Ward on Thursday evening.
Flames ripped through a three-story wood framed house located in the vicinity of 326 South 16th Street at around 6:10 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they arrived to observe thick smoke and heavy fire coming from the structure.
Crews were able to get a swift upper hand on the fire before making an entrance into the house to check for trapped and injured occupants.
About a dozen occupants were displaced, but there were no reports of injuries according to officials.
The American Red Cross assisted the displaced.
