Newark Fire officials are reporting that Newark firefighters extinguished a fire at 48 Vermont Avenue today that resulted in two injuries.
According to a statement released by officials, firefighters responded to the 2-story wood frame building shortly after 6 a.m.
A female victim was transported to University Hospital for evaluation and a firefighter was also transported for treatment of a back injury official said.
The fire was considered under control at 6:39 a.m. The American Red Cross is relocating four families.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
