Late Friday night, Newark emergency responders conducted an intense rescue operation to save a man who fell into the Passaic River near Jersey Street and Raymond Boulevard, close to the Jackson Street Bridge.The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when first responders were dispatched to the area after reports of a person in the water.
Upon arrival, crews found the semi-conscious man floating in the river.
Newark firefighters initiated the rescue by throwing a rope to the individual and then entering the water to bring him safely to shore.
Within minutes, the unidentified man was pulled from the river and secured on land without any reported injuries.
After a brief visual inspection, officials confirmed that no other individuals were in the river. The incident remains under investigation.
