Newark Police are looking into the motives behind a stabbing incident that occurred in the city’s East Ward on Thursday evening.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, the attack took place around 6:35 p.m. on March 7, when an unidentified assailant randomly stabbed a woman walking along the 100 block of Orchard Street.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to University Hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.
She is currently in stable condition and receiving the necessary medical attention for her wounds.
Authorities report that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident and has yet to be apprehended.
As the search for the assailant continues, the Newark Police Department is working to piece together the circumstances leading up to the attack in hopes of identifying and capturing the perpetrator.
