There were no injuries reported in an incident that involved an attempted carjacking in Newark's Ironbound section early this morning -Saturday-.
According to preliminary reports, the victim reported while waiting at the intersection of Adams and Thomas streets at approximately 5:30 a.m., a male armed with a gun jumped into the front passenger seat of his vehicle in an attempt to carjack the victim.
The driver immediately sped off coming to a crashing halt into a business located at 370 Adams Street according to reports.
The suspect then bailed from the vehicle and sprinted down Adams Street the victim said.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to assist in the incident.
The suspect was only reported as a young black male who remains at-large.
