Authorities announced the arrest of Mark Shelton, 39, of Newark, for a double-shooting that occurred on Mar. 13th.
Police responded to a ShotSpotter notification at Avon Avenue and Stratford Place shortly after 11 a.m. where they located two male victims who were transported to University Hospital for treatment.
According to officials, one was treated and released while the second victim remains in the hospital in stable condition.
Detectives developed evidence identifying Mark Shelton as a suspect in this shooting and secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy.
Detectives today arrested Shelton without incident.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
