Newark Authorities Seek Help Identifying Aggravated Assault Suspect

Authorities in Newark seek the public’s assistance with identifying the male suspect in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Friday, May 31.  Ad

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said at approximately 8:33 p.m., police responded to Jackson Street and Market Street on a call of an aggravated assault.

A cleaning service driver blew his horn at a group of people who were blocking his pathway inside Riverview Park, officials stated.  Ad

Officials said after the group moved, an unknown African American male threw a glass bottle through the driver-side window of the cleaning service vehicle, striking the victim in the head and causing bleeding.

According to officials, the suspect fled on foot, while EMS arrived to evaluate the victim at the scene.

Detectives investigating this incident request the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect, officials say.Ad

Authorities say he is described as in his late twenties to early thirties.

Officials said he was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes and was carrying a black Adidas duffle bag.
