Officials at the NJ State Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that killed a female on a highway in Bergen County Saturday.
Officials said Troopers responded at 11:50 pm to a crash involving a pedestrian on the Garden State Parkway south milepost 165.9, Washington Twp., Bergen County.
According to Trooper Charles Marchan, based on a preliminary investigation, an Acura passenger car was traveling south on the Garden State Parkway when it was involved in a previous crash and became disabled in the roadway.
Trooper Marchan said the driver of the Acura exited the vehicle and a Chrysler minivan traveling south in the area of milepost 165.9 impacted the disabled vehicle and pedestrian.
As a result, Trooper Marchan said of the crash, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries.
The deceased is a 35-year-old male of Walden, NY. Her name is being withheld pending notification.
