Authorities are investigating a second school threat in Essex County that has sparked concern among parents and students.
East Orange Police received reports of a social media post similar to the threat directed at Newark high schools on Thursday, which prompted heightened security measures.
The latest threat targeted schools in East Orange, including The Patrick F. Healy School, Campus High School, and Cicely Tyson High School.
The post, which included an image of a handgun, warned of potential violence starting at 1:59 p.m. today and lasting until 2:14 p.m. with the message reading: "We ain't come today because we were at a lot of schools..."
In the Newark incident, Director Frage said his detectives swiftly responded to the initial threat on Thursday by increasing patrols around the schools mentioned and arresting three teenagers suspected of being involved.
The teens now face serious charges, including making terroristic threats. No incidents of violence occurred during the increased security presence.
Authorities are now trying to determine whether the same suspects are responsible for the recent threats made against schools in East Orange.
East Orange Police have launched an investigation and are expected to ramp up patrols and security measures around the targeted schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to identify those responsible and prevent any further disruptions.
