New Location, On-Line Support to File Complaints Against Newark Police Misconduct Announced

Newark

A new location and online support where residents can file complaints for police misconduct has been announced by police officials on Thursday.

Public Safety Director Anthony announced that the Newark Police Division’s Office of Internal Affairs has moved to **494 Broad Street, 1st floor**.

According to director Ambrose, the new facility, housed in a business building instead of a government office, offers visitors a friendlier, more inviting setting.

The location is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and is equipped with new computer equipment and updated furnishings. It also features on-site parking for convenient in-person reporting of complaints against police personnel.

The new office is not located near or in a police facility Ambrose said.

“I had pledged to relocate Internal Affairs as part of my 45-day initiative shortly after being named the Public Safety Director,” Ambrose said. “With the assistance of Mayor Baraka, we have completed the final piece of my 45-day plan and moved Internal Affairs away from any police facility.”
