A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with the distribution of Explicit Images of Minors and videos via a social messaging application.
Officials said Mr. Michael Heiler, 51, of Ventnor, was arrested without incident and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The Department of Homeland Security Investigations received a referral for inappropriate content distributed on a peer-to-peer network file-sharing platform.
The Department of Homeland Security Investigations contacted the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, jointly investigating the case. The subsequent investigation led Investigators to identify Heiler and determine he distributed images of sexual exploitation of minors.
He was charged with a 2nd-degree offense in reference to the distribution of child abuse images via a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform. Mr. Heiler was also charged with 3rd-degree possession of child abuse images.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit worked in cooperation with the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Ventnor Police Department.
