Authorities in Somerset County announced the arrest of Rajinder S. Randhawa, 36, of Raspberry Trail, Warren Township, in relation to acts of insurance fraud.
Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald stated that the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor, notified the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit of an alleged insurance fraud being committed by a fuel delivery trucking company that was misrepresenting their garaging location on a commercial auto policy application.
Officials stated that during a preliminary audit, an insurance company investigator determined that the eight trucks belonging to the trucking company were listed as being garaged in Bridgewater according to the company’s July 2023 commercial auto insurance policy application.
However, the trucks were located in Linden, officials say.
Detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Unit opened an investigation into this matter.
Further investigation revealed that the eight trucks belonging to the fuel delivery company were being kept at a location in Linden, not Bridgewater, as the insurance company had indicated, officials said.
According to officials, by stating the trucks were being garaged in Bridgewater instead of Linden on the insurance application, Rajinder Randhawa, the purchaser of the insurance policy, paid a much lower premium on the policy.
The difference in the premium between what was paid and what would have been owed to the insurance company in a six-month time frame was approximately $231,431.00, officials stated. 
Authorities say that resulting from this investigation, on Thursday, May 9, defendant Rajinder Randhawa was arrested without incident at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials said defendant Randhawa was charged with 3rd-degree Insurance Fraud and released pending a court date.
