Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a homicide is currently under investigation in the City of New Brunswick.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on Sunday, October 13, at approximately 3:03 a.m., the New Brunswick Police Department received a 911 call reporting an unconscious male on Comstock Street.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Oscar Sanchez, 34, of New Brunswick, unconscious, County officials said.
Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said New Brunswick Police officers performed CPR, and Sanchez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
New Brunswick Police say that an initial investigation led by Detective Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Sanchez had been in a fight and sustained serious injuries as a result.
It has been determined that this incident was not a random act of violence, and there is no threat to the public, officials say.
