Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced the arrest of a 55-year-old North Bergen man in connection with a narcotics investigation.
According to authorities, on July 31st, following a short investigation, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force arrested a North Bergen man for possession with the intent to distribute crystal methamphetamine.
Officials say Christopher Durkin, 55, of North Bergen, was arrested on charges including possession of crystal methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and possession of crystal methamphetamine within 500 feet of public property and 1000 feet of school property.
Police arrested Durkin without incident at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City after a search of his vehicle and residence led to the recovery of more than 20 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and approximately $3,500 in U.S. currency.
The street value of the total quantity of crystal methamphetamine seized is approximately $59,000.
Authorities charged Durkin with two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Methamphetamine), one count of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Methamphetamine), one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Methamphetamine) while within 500 feet of Public Property, one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Methamphetamine) while within 1,000 feet of School Property and one count of Possession with Intent to use Drug Paraphernalia.
The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
