Narcotics Search Warrant of a Newark Bodega Leads to Three Arrests

A search warrant at a Newark bodega yesterday, led to the discovery of large amounts of prescription pills which led to the arrest of three men, authorities said. 

A search warrant was executed by members of the Essex County Sheriff's Office's Bureau of Narcotics at the business at local bodega located on the corner of Orange Street and Nesbitt Street, according to authorities.

During the search, authorities found Luis Hernandez, 50, of Newark and 28-year-old Andres Sosa, 28, of Closter (in a back room) both in possession of Oxycodone and Endocet tablets.

The owner of the bodega, later identified as 32-year-old Juan Abreu, was also taken into custody after a plastic bag filled with Oxycodone was found on the store's floor.

All three men are facing multiple drug possession charges, distribution offenses, as well as conspiracy.

Abreu posted bond earlier today, according to records.

Hernandez and Sosa both remain held at the Essex County Jail.
