A judge has dismissed a murder indictment against a 19-year-old East Orange woman accused of causing the death of a friend last year at a Point Pleasant Beach motel.
According to officials, State Superior Court Judge James Blaney Tuesday ordered Jelani Webster to remain jailed without bail with Ocean County prosecutors have 20 days to file an appeal of the ruling.
The murder was dismissed after Blaney stated that grand jurors got misleading information about how much drinking occurred. In addition, Blaney stated that when jurors inquired on differences between murder and manslaughter got inadequate answers and irrelevant information.
According to reports, Webster was charged following the drowning death of Anijyah Price, 23, of Newark, at the Amethyst's Beach Motel last July.
