There were serious injuries reported in a crash that occurred in Newark's downtown on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, the two-car crash happened near the intersection of McCarter Highway and Chestnut Street around 9:30 p.m.
Police say firefighters and University Hospital Rescue squad arrived at the scene and found an unoccupied car engulfed in flames after colliding with a second vehicle that had trapped occupants.
Police say rescue crews were able to extricate all of the passengers from the badly damaged vehicle. They were then handed over to EMS for transport to University Hospital.
Three adults and one child suffered non-life-threatening injuries while a woman was listed in serious condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
