Newark Police, in a coordinated effort with Emergency Services Units, have detained several suspects linked to a violent aggravated assault and robbery.
The incident, which left a victim injured, occurred in the North Ward on Friday evening.
Authorities were called to the area of Broadway and Delavan shortly before 6:50 p.m. following reports of an ongoing robbery. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from head injuries sustained during the robbery and subsequent attack.
The victim was promptly transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Further investigation led the police to a residence in the 20's block of Triton Terrace, where the suspects were believed to be hiding.
The situation escalated, requiring the assistance of the Emergency Services Unit. The operation resulted in approximately five individuals being taken into custody.
The Newark Police Department is actively investigating this incident, piecing together the events that led to the violent encounter.
