Police in several Essex County municipalities is looking for several armed suspects who targeted victims in towns in the county Tuesday night.
In one of the numerous armed robberies, police in Orange were dispatched to the area of 249 Reynolds Street to investigate reports of an armed robbery in progress before 9:50 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and were told that armed black males exited a black Honda Accord and committed an armed robbery at the location.
The vehicle had a reported NJ license plate number "K47-LMP".
Essex County Sheriff's Office officers came across that vehicle in the vicinity of Springfield Avenue and South 11th Street earlier in the evening and attempted to pull the driver over.
Maplewood Police say said n a statement that at approximately 09:10 pm, Maplewood Patrol Unit was flagged down by a 25-year-old female resident who reported she was just robbed at the corner of Parker Avenue and Cherry Place.
While walking home Westbound on Parker Avenue, a black Honda Accord pulled up next to her and two black males with ski masks exited the vehicle and confronted her.
Police said a male brandishing a black handgun grabbed the victim by her backpack and threw her to the ground and then pointed a semi-automatic pistol at her head and stated, “give me everything you got, bitch!”.
The suspects then took control of her backpack and I-phone 11 from her person and, before fleeing, kicked the victim while she layed on the ground.
According to police, the suspects then entered an awaiting black Honda Accord and are last seen fleeing eastbound on Parker Avenue into Irvington.
Maplewood Police said the victim refused medical attention and, at the time of this report, did not report sustaining any injuries.
The victim reported both assailants as being black males, approximately 5’ 9” in height, between 18-20 years of age.
The men were wanted for robberies in Newark/Irvington/Maplewood borders.
The vehicle sped away from the scene and continued to commit robberies in the region, including several in Newark.
Authoritites reported no physical injuries in the robberies.
