Firefighters from several municipalities battled a two-alarm fire that ignited inside a house in Hillside this morning.
Firefighters were called to 400 Columbia Avenue at around 10:30am where crews found smoke coming from the second floor of a 2-story house at that location.
Firefighters were able to contain the fast moving fire within a half hour with assistance from Linden, Maplewood, Westfield, Union, and Irvington.
A mother and a child was taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalations. There injuries were non-life threatening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
