Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that happened on the westbound side of Route 280 near exit 4 that caused several cars to overturn and roll over on the highway at the beginning of rush hour traffic this afternoon. A dump truck -also involved in the crash- spilled some debris on the highway.
The crash occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. had police closing all westbound lanes in Roseland. Mutual EMS assistance from Roseland, West Essex, and Verona arrived to the scene for several people suffering serious injuries.
There was heavy delays on the eastbound side of the highway due to rubbernecking delays.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
